Quilters on the Rock membership is open to anyone interested in quilting. Our dues are $25 per year which are payable in January of each year.
Members receive a monthly newsletter, which is sent via email, and regular mail for those who don't have email. In this newsletter we try to provide information on quilting events in the Northwestern part of the state as well as upcoming events for our Guild.
We met the third Monday night of each month. We have a Sit and Stitch time before the meeting where you can bring a project to work on or sit and visit with other members. At the meeting, refreshments are provided by members who have their birthday that month.
On the Saturday following the monthly meeting, we have a Community Quilt Workshop, except for the 3 summer months and December. We make Community Quilts for Various groups on the Island, Such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the MAC Unit at Whidbey General Hospital, Family Planning, and others. One of our goals is the be a positive force in our community.
We have two Retreats a year. The first one is at the end of February and the second at the end of October. They are both held at Warm Beach Conference Center in Stanwood. It is a beautiful setting on the coast of Puget Sound. We have lots of fun, good food and hopefully get a project or two completed.
For those unable to attend a Retreat we have Day Camps at least twice a year. The Day Camps set aside a day for members to be with other quilters, to show and share information.
We also have a Quilt show every other year in August to share our passion of quilting with the community. It is held at Greenbank Farms. The next Quilt show will be in 2009.
In order for our club to run successfully, each member is asked to serve on a committee or run for office. We also need everyone to work on our Opportunity Quilt Raffle by helping with the construction and selling tickets. The Opportunity Quilt Raffle is our major fundraiser.
