Charitable Quilting
Quilters on the Rock supports the Community Quilt outreach in many ways. The guild budgets funds for the purchase of fabric and batting, and present and past members share their stashes to provide fabric for our quilts.
Community Quilts
Our quilts are made for people on Whidbey Island and primarily go to the MAC (Chemotherapy) Unit at Whidbey General Hospital and Margie's House, to give comfort to women in difficult situations. Our children's quilts go to children on our Island through CADA. Community Quilt workshops are held several times during the fall, winter and spring, usually the Saturday following our monthly guild meeting. Currently we meet at the Whidbey Presbyterian Church. When you see a Community Quilt, you see a cooperative effort, with many hands making tangible gifts of "TLC". Since 2003 the Community Quilt project has donated 729 quilts through out our community.
American Hero Quilts
Reaching out to the wider community, our members participate in the American Hero Quilt Project, headquartered on Vashon Island. Led by member Lynn Scoby, QOR has participated since late 2005 and have sent over 400 quilts of comfort to returning wounded military personnel recovering at Madigan Army Hospital.
